Serenity

Serenity. Calmness. Stillness. Tranquility.
That's the theme for this weeks Fototriss. For me it's all about nature, the skies and water. Here's my tranquil triss.

Back on track with Fototriss!

I haven't participated in the last few Fototriss challenges, one due to not really having anything to shoot on that particular theme, and another one due to being away.
But anyway, this week I'm back on track, and the theme is "Lovely Autumn".

I was experimenting with shutter speed when I was shooting the candles, and I think this one turned out really nice. I used the self timer, 2 sec exposure time, and softly blew on the flames to create some movement in the photo.
Lighting candles makes the world a brighter Place
I've been wanting to play around with water and short exposure time for a long time, and today I managed to capture a few raindrops. Still have a long way to go with these kind of photos, but it was really good fun, and I really got to challenge myself. Had to turn ISO up to 800 to get any kind of ok exposure, and I don't even think that was enough... Hence a lot of noise in this photo, but in b/w I think it gives it a bit of character.

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head....

I love autumn and the produce it gives. Apples, pears, plums - not to mention all the fabulous root vegetables. Cooking in autumn is fantastic....! The apples are lying on top of my sofa table, which is really great for reflecting things...

Until next time!

Living life in monochrome - cuz sometimes it's all black or white

Somebody once said that everybody should become a photographer, because it makes you look at the world with different eyes. And that is so true. One of my absolut favourite things to photograph, is plain, everyday stuff you see everywhere. Something completely ordinary, but all of a sudden you see the beauty in the ordinary, and it becomes extraordinary!

And lots of times when I manage to catch a glimpse of that extraordinary, I can picture the finished photo in black and white. So here's some b/w photos...

Back to Black!

Black is this weeks theme in Fototriss. At first I thought "what a difficult theme, how on earth am I supposed to be able to do this?". But then I realized there are so many different ways to interpret this, and to show blackness....

First one is from my archive, one of my favourite photos, a silhouette of a lighthouse in the sunset.

A shady type of photo....?

Coffee is best served black in my books

So that was my Fototriss this week, remember that you can see more HERE

Until next time!

A different kind of Marathon!

A few weeks ago the photo club in Varberg organized a photo marathon. Some weeks before that, the photo club in Falkenberg had a marathon as well, and I took part in both of them. The one in Falkenberg was the first for me, and it was really good fun. Hence taking part in the Varberg one as well....
In Falkenberg it was six themes, four hours time limit. In Varberg it was five themes, and three hours. There was 34 people taking part in Falkenberg, and a whooping 96 in Varberg. And I acctually came in third in one of the themes in both Marathons...! Am I proud?? You bet!! I am absolutely astounded, especially to get a third prize in the Varberg one, out of 96 people!!

Anyways, here's the photos (completely unedited, as per the rules of the marathon), and themes.

Fototriss - Striped

So this week's Fototriss theme is "striped". I haven't really got time to go out with my camera this week, so I had a look through my archive and found some photos, with perhaps a slightly different take on stripes...
And for some bizarre reason, I can't upload my pics with byline today, so they have none....

Was acctually shooting portraits this day, and had these pretty flowers as background, when I noticed all the bumblebees. Had to try to catch some...

Powerstation in Falkenberg.
One of my first night-time photos. I liked the way the bridge got reflected in the water, that's why I took the picture, but when I checked it in the camera display, I saw the sky, and thought the clouds added a nice feeling to it.

Stora Neden, Nösslinge
Took this picture a few years ago, early one morning, with my mobile camera, that's why the quality sucks a bit... Still like the photo though, with the reflection, and the steam coming off the water, and the rays of the sun

If you want to take part in the Fototriss challenge, or have a look at more Trisses do so HERE
Hope you enjoyed my stripes! Until next time!

Getting my feet wet

I think water is my favourite element, regardless of situation. Weather it is to be surrounded by, to watch or to take photos of. There are so many different ways water can behave, and each is just as beautiful as the other.

I really haven't got a lot of experience in shooting water, but it is one thing I would like to do more of, just because of the way it behaves. I also find it intriguing how you can make water look, depending on what shutter time you are using.

These are my first attempt of water photography using slow shutter time. They leave a lot to be desired still, I didn't use a tripod for example, because I didn't have one...

I have also done a bit more editing to these photos, than what I normally do, to compensate somewhat for my inexperience in water photography, and to create a more moody feel to them.

A new photographic challenge

So I found this photo-challenge, I guess you could call it, that seems really interesting. It's called "Fototriss". Every week you get a theme, and then you upload three photos on your blog or webpage, and link it to the Fototriss blog.

It seems like a really good way to develop as a photographer. Given a specific theme to think about, makes you look at motives in a different way.
So this will be my first entry in Fototriss, and this weeks theme is: "This is what it looks like where I'm at". It's supposed to show what summer looks like, or my idea of what summer looks like, where I'm at, right now.

Hopefully, if I am linking correctly, you can find more information, and participate yourself (NOTE: page in Swedish) in Fototriss HERE.

So anyway, here is my first Fototriss!

There is a first time for everything!

So... I have decided to start a blog for my photos. And IF per chance, for some reason, somebody else out in the big wide world would like to check my blog out, I decided to use English, not Swedish here.
Anyway, this first entry is just a quick one to check the blog out, how it works and stuff, more will come some other time!
Lighthouse at Morups Tånge, just outside of Falkenberg

This is probably one of my favorite photos I've taken so far. A beautiful sunset in early spring/late winter, and I had only just managed to work out how my camera works, more or less... Still don't know it that well to be honest, but learning every time I use it.
